Kari Dunn Buron and Mitzi Curtis wrote the book “The Incredible 5-Point Scale” to help educators, administrators, and parents understand and teach both social and emotional concepts to children on the autism spectrum. Drawing from decades of experience, Buron and Curtis explain how to help children on the autism spectrum by having them communicate using numbers instead of words.

Both authors are based in Minnesota, USA. Kari Dunn Buron has taught students on the autism spectrum in the K-12 public school system for over 30 years. Mitzi Curtis has worked with people with disabilities and their families for over 40 years. Their book is easy to understand and the concepts are easy to apply, which help ensure that any child’s behavioural goal can be addressed using their 5-point scale.
