Online SEL resource center for teens and their educators
The inspirED online resource center, jointly developed by Facebook and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, provides practical SEL tools and resources that can help teens experience more positive emotions in their schools, and in their lives. There are differentiated sections of the website for teen use and for educator use.
The content of this site was developed on the basis of results of the Emotion Revolution, a collaborative project between the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, Facebook, and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, which asked thousands of high school students in the US how they hope to feel in school. The resources are categorized based on feelings desired by the students: Connected and Supported, Contented & Balanced, Energized & Motivated, Happy & Excited, Inspired and Empowered, Passion & Purpose, Respected & Valued and Safe & Comfortable. Offered under each category are activities and tools that can help teens experience these emotions. These activities vary from 10-minute exercises, to 1-hour lessons, and project-based activities.
Also suggested on the site is a 5-step process for students and educators to create positive change in their schools. School staff can also sign up for a School Climate assessment offered by inspirED.
