Lesson plan for Exploring Chinese Culture with Children
LINK TO RESOURCE:
Buster in Beijing
Developed by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the United States, Buster in Beijing teaches grade three students about cultural differences and similarities between Western and Chinese cultures. Based on an episode of the television show Arthur, students learn about the historical landmarks, geography, and the overall culture of China. Through activities such as writing postcards and brochures, mapping out the distance between North America and China, and learning about important cultural landmarks, students begin to understand how those in other countries may be different from themselves. All material needed for this activity can be found online for free.
