Canada-based Mindfulness program for Educators
SMART Education is a 9-week, evidence-based mindfulness program for educators.
The SMART (Stress Management And Resiliency Techniques) program aims to help educators to manage stress, employ self-care techniques, enhance their concentration, improve overall mental and physical health, and promote happiness.
Experiential activities in mindfulness are used in the program to promote concentration, attention, compassion, and positive interpersonal communication, as well as a deeper awareness and understanding of emotions.
This is a non-religious and non-sectarian program delivered by accredited instructors, and is delivered over 8 two-hour sessions and a 4-hour silent retreat. The program was originally developed in the US, and is presently coordinated through the Faculty of Education (Okanagan) at the University of British Columbia.
